Marked on receiver ring ''1937'', and on left side rail ''CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA,BRNO VZ 24''. Mismatched numbers. Missing cleaning rod, rear sling swivel, and front triggerguard locking screw. Rifle has been rebuilt with a replacement barrel, stock, fittings, and bolt. Barrel at muzzle has been turned down on a lathe and a VZ 24 front sight and ring slipped on but not attached. Upper band does not fit properly and will not lock. Bolt appears to be from a Russian capture VZ 24. Condition overall is very good as modified with approx. 50% finish remaining on metal surfaces, the balance turned to patina. Wood has been sanded and left unfinished showing light handling marks. Bore shows some rusting near the chamber. Action operates smoothly. Safety lever is frozen in the ''Fire'' position and will not operate. No visible import stamps. (2) #71341, 8x57mm cal., 23.6'' barrel, no finish, laminated stock, inverted ''V'' front sight and adjustable tangent rear sight. Marked on receiver ring with large (faint) oval ''FN'' commercial logo, and on left side rail (faintly) ''FAB NAT.D'ARMES de GUERRE, HERSTAL-BELGIQUE.'' Mismatched numbers with serial number removed from bolt handle. Missing cleaning rod, barrel band retaining spring, rear sight and front triggerguard locking screws. Built from various parts including replaced rear sight assembly and triggerguard. Front and rear barrel bands are replacements and do not fit properly. Condition is good overall with no finish remaining on metal parts, which have turned to a patina in places, showing substantial areas of cleaned pitting on receiver. Muzzle area appears to have been heated with a torch. Right side buttstock has a carved area which has been filled with wood putty, otherwise good with darkening and old handling marks. Action is smooth, bore shows wear to the rifling but is bright. No visible import stamps. Est.: $200-$400/lot. (Both C&R)
