Lot of Two (2) Cased Winchester 1892 Lever Action Rifles: 1) #450188, .25-20 cal., 24'' octagonal barrel, blue finish, smooth straight-grip walnut stock, buckhorn rear and standard front sight, with crescent steel buttplate. Period engraved in factory style with light scroll work to top of buttplate, tang of rifle, both sides of receiver, area surrounding serial number, chamber area of both frame and barrel, forend tip, and light treatment at muzzle. Receiver flats with classic scroll showing punchdot background and border; both sides with circular game scenes featuring running and standing deer. Mfg'd 1908. Condition is very good to near fine as later engraved. Barrel and mag tube retain approx. 85% lightly toning blue/black finish; frame shows about 40%, much of which has toned brown. Stocks fit well with no losses, light evidence of sanding, and minor impressions. Buttplate with approx. 75% thinning and toning blue. Action is very good, bore is fair to good. 2) #866020, .25-20 cal., 24'' octagonal barrel, blue finish, smooth straight-grip walnut stock, adjustable notch rear and white bead front sight, with crescent steel buttplate. Period engraved in factory style with light scroll work to top of buttplate, tang of rifle, both sides of receiver, area surrounding serial number, chamber area of frame, and forend tip. Receiver flats with classic scroll showing punchdot background and border; both sides with circular game scenes featuring running and standing deer. Mfg'd 1918. In pre-war hobbyist made wooden case with brass handle, lined with maroon cotton velveteen, as well as a brass-plated metal plaque inside lid. Condition is very good to near fine as later engraved. Barrel and mag tube retain approx. 75% lightly toning blue/black finish; frame shows about 30%, much of which has toned brown. Stocks fit well with small sliver missing to upper right portion beneath hammer, and somewhat heavy ding to right side top of comb. Buttplate with approx. 40% thinning and toning blue. Action is very good, bore is fair to good. Black-painted wood case remains in fair condition; clasps and hinges seem somewhat light spec for a case of this weight. Est.: $3,000-$5,000/set. (C&R)
