M1892 .38 caliber third type made in 1902 only. Crescent stitching - "Rock Island Arsenal" on the flap in three lines with "EHS" inspector marking.  Bottom of flap has faint PFL inspector marking. US oval somewhat faded. Was the last holster to be made of fair leather. It marks the transition from black to brown leather. The semi-Circular, curved stitch located on the leading edge of the body was added in many holsters beginning 1907. This feature permitted a closer, more secure fit around the trigger guard area of the revolver from resting on the bottom plug and forcing it out a very common problem as you can imagine. There were 17,000 third type .38 caliber revolver holsters manufactured at the Rock Island Arsenal. **Holster leather has some very light cracking but leather is supple and still pliable. Rock Island Arsenal and US Marking is faded but still legible. Stitching is tight. Overall in very good condition.** $150-$250
