As described in the 1912 Trial Horse Equipment manual, this olive drab web Model 1912 Cooling Strap is 87 ½†long and features a blackened bronze tip and bar buckle. Continued in service with the Model 1904 and later service saddles after the Model 1912 Saddles were dropped from the inventory, these Model 1912 Cooling Straps are believed to have replaced the linen and leather Model 1885 and Model 1904 Surcingle's and they appear in period US Army photographs as late at the 1930’s. This Model 1912 Surcingle is full length. These surcingle's were important components of the complete saddle equipment issue and are necessary to complete your saddle display, however they have never been common on the market. Lot also includes one M1912 Cooling Strap without buckles; one olive drab M1912 Surcingle; and four M1928 leather coat straps. **The full length M1912 Cooling Strap and Surcingle shows indication that it has been issued and used. There are some spots of soiling and some minor wear in isolated spots along the edges, but it is overall a very good specimen. All other straps  show very little to no wear and are in excellent condition.** $300-$450
