BARREL 22". CALIBER 70" LATE 17TH CENTURY (1675-1699O Michele Lorenzoni worked in Florence, often credited with inventing, or making, the first repeating flintlock pistol and a well known gunsmith of the time. This quality musketoon has a flint lock stamped Lorenzoni with his engraved hunting scenes. The hammer is carved and the screw head is a gargoyle. The full length walnut stock is hand carved with ferns and oak leaves. Brass furniture includes two pipes, trigger guard, butt plate, side plate and brass decorations. Iron furniture with flared barrel that has a solid top rib. CONDITION. Fine stock with repaired wrist crack, brass cleaned at one time, some minor shrinkage, Iron in the white has aged patina. Fine lock marking. Fully operational. Most of these Lorenzoni Florence guns rest in European museums and very few enter the American market. ANTIQUE
