SHOTGUN WITH MILLER TRIGGER. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 19824. The 27 3/4" demi bloc bbls. fitted with slightly raised matted ventilated rib, are engraved with maker's name and address on top left, and steel type on right. Ejector swells are scroll engraved. Bottom bbl. is stamped with Spanish nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Coin finished, double Kersten, back spring sidelock action features safety blocked off to be inoperable, detachable locks with hidden pin in left lockplate, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, gold plated internals and Miller single selective trigger. (Internal inspection reveals that intercepting safety sears have been removed.) Action is engraved with near full coverage exceptionally well cut shaded scroll with rose blossom highlights. Lockplates are engraved with game scenes. A flock of ducks rise from a marsh on left lockplate, and a large group of pheasant are standing, feeding & flying in meadowlands on right. Maker's name is on each side of action under reinforce and also on a banner on bottom, in front of trigger plate. Blued, single beaded trigger guard is engraved with matching scroll on bow and serial number on tang. Straight grip buttstock of attractively flame figured and somewhat marbled European walnut measures 14 1/4" over red Old English pad. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip and the individual gold initials "JB" are on toe line. Matching 3 piece ejector forend has inlet horn tip and Deeley release. A social security number and "CO49" is electro pencil marked on engine turned iron. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS.: Bore Diameter: T: .032", B: .732". Restrictions: T: .025" (MOD), B: .008" (IC). Bbls. retaining most of what appears to be their original blue. Action and lockplates with bright coin finish. Engraving is sharp and clear. Top lever and trigger guard retain most of their original blue. Trigger guard considerably silvered on tang. Stock retain mostly of an old oil finish possibly original. Checkering is somewhat worn especially on forend. Pad is relatively new and not fitted very well. Bores are bright and shiny with some scattered light frosting. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong. Trigger works well. These late 40s, early 50s AYA shotguns are exceptionally well made and finished and are an incredible bargain in today's market. (22-999/MGM). CURIO. $1,750-2,500.
