Manhattan Arms Series III Navy .36 Cal. SN: 19222
Civil War percussion single action revolver chambered for .36 caliber ammunition, 5-shot, modeled after Colt's 1849 Pocket. Approximately 30,000 of the SERIES III revolvers were made between Sept. 1, 1861 and April 1, 1864. Features a 6 1/2" octagonal barrel with "Manhattan Firearms Co. Newark NJ", loading lever, German silver blade front sight, notched rear sight, roll stamped cylinder with floral panels, checkered hammer spur, plated brass grip frame, and once piece varnished walnut grips. Finish has moved to an even medium grey patina. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, frame, triggerguard, grip frame, cylinder pin, and cylinder, wedge is mismatched, markings are feint, but readable. Bore has small areas of pitting, and wood grips are very good with few blemishes. The two cock hammer action works well with cylinder removed, but the cylinder stop does not depress when the hammer is cocked not allowing it to rotate. Needs repair/adjustment. The barrel is a little loose.
NRA Condition-Fair. Antique Firearm.
