Marlin Model 1893 Rifle in Caliber 30-30 with special order takedown frame. Standard 26" octagon barrel is marked "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL", with full magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate. Sights consist of a standard semi-buckhorn Marlin rear sight with a German silver blade front sight. Barrel address has all 3 correct patent dates which include the 1887, 1889, and 1893 dates. Upper tang marked "MODEL 1893" and top of frame marked " MARLIN SAFETY". Markings are feint, but readable, the buttstock appears to have been lightly sanded as it is a lighter color than the forearm, the metal finish has turned a brown patina, the bore is dark/rough with rifling present, action works well, the forearm has a couple of chips, and missing sliver of wood on on the top of both sides where the wood meets the barrel. The right side of the receiver has areas of deep pitting. Manufactured circa 1903. Looks like it sat out in the barn for a number of years.
