Marlin Model 1893 Takedown Lever Action Short Rifle, #A5519, .25-36 CF cal., blued 22'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed blade front and buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1887-88-93 patent dates in two lines on top flat, ''Special Smokeless Steel'' flanked by diamonds on left angled flat, and ''25-36 M'' at breech; tubular cartridge magazine; case hardened receiver with side ejection is marked ''Marlin Safety'' on top, ''Model/1893'' on upper tang, and ser. no. at lower front; loop operating lever; varnished walnut forearm with steel nosec ap, matching buttstock with steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1916. Condition is fine. Stocks are sound and smooth with only light marks of age and use, lovely grain and color, and perhaps a thin later coat of varnish. Action is smooth; bore shines with deep rifling. This Model 1893, with its take-down feature and likely special-ordered short barrel, is a highly desirable Marlin, indeed. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R)
