Marlin Model No 24 12 Ga SN: 134866
‘Grade A’ Vintage take-down slide-action repeating shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 gauge shells, manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1908-1917. Features a blued finish, cut-down 20" barrel with matted top, 5 round tube magazine, brass bead front sight, smooth trigger, exposed hammer with knurled spur, single action bar, checkered walnut slide handle, checkered semi-fancy walnut serpentine semi-pistol grip shoulder stock and checkered hard rubber buttplate with molded squirrel decor. The barrel is marked “144166” and “F”. The receiver appears to have been cleaned and bears a soft grey patina with scattered pin prick pitting & trace amounts of bluing retained in the protected areas. The barrel and magazine tube retain approximately 80% of their blued finish showing slide wear, some scattered rust/putting and thinning. Action appears mechanically sound (though Marlin issued a bulletin that these early exposed hammer shotguns should not be fired), the bore is bright with a small amount of light pitting, the markings are very good and the refinished walnut stocks are near good with a chip in the toe of the buttstock & slightly ill-fitting buttplate. Condition is NRA Good. ***C&R Firearm***
