Mauser 'byf 43' P.38 9mm SN: 8572i
Manufactured by Mauser "byf 43" in 1943 Germany for the German Army, semi-automatic locked breech pistol, DA/SA, blued with a black finish, approximately 4 7/8" barrel, bore is bright, fixed iron sights, serrated safety/decocking lever, external hammer with a serrated spur, smooth trigger, brown grooved Bakelite grips that wrap around the backstrap, lanyard ring on left side, metal magazine. Matching serial numbers on frame, slide, barrel and locking block. There are rub marks on the high edges and scattered scratches in the metal, The grips show signs of wear. This model offered similar performance to the Luger P08, but took almost half the time to produce. The P.38 was a cutting edge semi-automatic pistol design, which introduced technical features used today in current commercial and military semi-automatic pistols. Unlike most autopistols which eject empty cases to the right, the Walther P.38 ejects empty cases to the left. Includes a black leather flap-over holster and an extra metal magazine. British proof marks indicate that this weapon might have been taken into Great Britain by a returning soldier. It was proofed by The Birmingham Proof House to 15 tons per square inch between 1954 and 1989. The proof marks are located on top of the barrel, slide and frame. **NRA Very Good** Modern Firearm C&R Eligible
