17" x 16". Wool felt construction with black ribbon and old lace trim. Three rows on bright bullion with Ledsam and Sons Mexican Republic button, along with Mexican tricolor cockade and eagle. Three metallic star sewn to gold lace cockade ribbon. Stitched leather sweatband with pleated black silk lining. **Good condition. Some cracking and splitting of wool with sweatband showing some wear from age. Lining is intact. Some evidence of conservation and restoration including glue reinforcement of body, likely replaced eagle ornament, and attachment of feathers.** Provenance Colonel John Hays Collection Harry B.
