Bird Banding and Lunch with Helen & Mark Blazis
This donation is for two people to spend a day with Master Bird Bander Mark Blazis and his wife Helen capturing birds during their migration in September in auburn MA. This is a unique opportunity to capture, identify, weigh, measure, sex and age these birds that are migrating to or from places like the Caribbean, Central America and the Amazon. You can expect to help hold, band and release them. Of course photos are highly recommended. This is all part of research projects that Mark works on that take him as far away as the Amazon to study these birds. Mark and Helen are great educators and hosts and include a wonderful lunch afterwards at their home in Grafton. Mark has worked with the Maine Medical Center, Harvard School of Public Health, Yale School of Public Health and Tufts University pioneering the study connecting migratory birds and the spread of Lyme disease. Many members have enjoyed this experience and highly recommend this donation.
SCINEF would like to especially thank Mark and Helen Blazis for their continues support of our chapter.
