Mountain Hunting Package to the Benefit of Tyler Curry
Auction item ____ is a special item for tonight’s banquet only. The proceeds from this item will go towards helping Tyler Curry, a Reno resident, avid hunter, and NBU member, who was involved in a terrible accident that left him paralyzed, achieve his grand slam. Tyler is an accomplished hunter and sportsmen who was fortunate enough to have killed 2 sheep in Nevada and one Dall sheep in the Northwest Territories) by the age of 21, leaving him one Stone Sheep away from achieving the coveted grand slam.
In February of 2017, after spending the weekend in Reno, Tyler was traveling back to Winnemucca to report for work. Just outside of Winnemucca, Tyler hit black ice that caused his truck to roll multiples times, and ultimately threw him from the vehicle. Tyler was care flighted to Renown. After a painful and nerve-racking time in the hospital, when the dust settled, Tyler was left paralyzed from his C-6 vertebrae down. Tyler has spent the past two years on a journey towards recovery while learning to live with his injuries and having the disheartening thought that he would never satisfy his ultimate dream of a grand slam. In February 2019, friends of Tyler’s were steadfast to see Tyler complete his dream and contacted Big 9 Outfitters out of British Columbia. Big 9 jumped at the opportunity to be a part of Tyler’s journey as very few, if any, paralysis victims have completed their grand slam on a Stone Sheep Hunt. Big 9 wants to see this happen for an amazing young man.
The winner of this item will forever be apart of an incredible story of determination, resolve, and compassion- the crux of every sportsman. Proceeds from this item will go towards the costs of the hunt, transportation, and medical assistance during the journey.
