NICE Antique Westley RIchards Double Barrel 16 Gauge SxS Shotgun
Made in Birmingham, England by Westley Richards in 1890 for Colonel Sir J. Burk and sold through the New Bond Street location. Gun is listed as a side by side 16 gauge shotgun with his gun being the No.2 gun of a matched pair. Fitted with 28" fluid steel 16 gauge Nitro proof sleeved chopper lump barrels originally with 2-1/2" chambers lengthened to 2-3/4". Gun is import marked and comes with importation history from Woodcock Hill of Benton, PA. Barrels are blued with maker marked rib, bead front sight, ejectors and choked Modified and Improved Cylinder. Full coverage vignette engraved boxlock action with "Westley Richards" banner with blued vignette engraved floorplate and trigger guard with a running rabbit on base. Action is controlled by double triggers with top tang automatic safety and a gold "2" on opening lever and word "SAFE" in gold. Select Circassian walnut checkered English grip stock with leather faced recoil pad, and German silver oval vanity plate. Matching walnut checkered splinter forearm with ebony tip. Forearm iron and latch release are vignette engraved with a gold "2" on latch. Comes with a tremendous collection of factory research. LOP: 15-3/8". DAC: 1-5/8". DAH: 2-7/8". CALIBER: 16 GA. CONDITION
Retains 98% reapplied barrel blue with light assembly marks. Action has been polished bright with 98% reapplied blue on trigger plate and opening lever. Stock has professional wrist repair and has been cleaned. Excellent bores and mechanics. Wonderful gun to handle!
