NICE Vintage Professional Gambler's Kit from the 1870's with Pair of Percussion Pistols
Professional Gambler's Kit from the 1870's assembled by unknown maker. When looking at this set it puts one in the mind of something Doc Holiday would have used as he traveled from town to town in the Old West practicing his trade. Kit is contained in a walnut felt lined box measuring 10" x 7-1/2" x 6" with silver key hole escutcheon and silver lid banner plate for owner's name. Upon opening case you see all the wares of the trade including, 3 styles of dice, a lathe turned wooden dice cup, 2 glass liquor decanters, red, blue and white ivory Poker chips and a pack of Hart's "Squeezer" No. 352, 1870's vintage playing cards. When you remove the gaming items tray you expose two Belgian "Screw" barrel percussion pistols with 50 caliber smoothbore chambers with percussion floral engraved case-hardened actions and matching mahogany grips and hidden triggers. With the guns is an empty vintage F. Joyce & Co. percussion cap tin. When the case is open there is a brass knob when pulled a spring loaded draw comes out containing a bone handled straight razor, and monogrammed cigar case, wire rimmed glasses in leather case and two "WIZARD" sleeve card holders for use by the nefarious card player. CALIBER: 50. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Kit is in good condition with all items showing age but taken care of with guns having wear from carry but still in useable condition. Case has stress crack on lid with some staining to lining. A great piece of history from a forgotten time.
