This auction is for a donated 5-day culling safari for one hunter and one non-hunter, between June and November of this year or next. The cull includes permits and taxes, full board and laundry service, airport transfers, guide service, and field preparation for five animals selected by the guide from among warthog, hartebeest, gemsbuck (oryx), and eland cows. Jackals are unlimited. Hunting is typically “spot and stalk.” Extensions or upgrades are available, and more details follow, below.

About KATANENO JAGD:
KATANENO JAGD, today, consists of four contiguous game & cattle ranches in central Namibia – essentially Kalahari bush with over 55,000 acres inhabited by strong and well-managed populations of kudu, oryx, hartebeest, wildebeest, springbuck, zebra, warthog, steenbok, and other game. The area is home to a wonderful variety of bird life, including game birds, as well as many predators, including leopard, cheetah, hyena, jackal, and small cats. Heiko also manages concessions throughout Namibia for hunting practically any African game. Typically, lodging for guests is at the headquarters at KATANENO JAGD, in charming natural stone surroundings, with a stone thatch-roofed lapa and a pool. Part of the intrigue of staying at KATANENO is that you are at the headquarters of an extensive game and cattle ranching operation, and can view as many aspects of that kind of complex milieu as you wish. In the hunting field, however, there are no restrictions on game movement, and the impression is definitely one of being in the African bush. You will see lots of wild big game. In my experience, this area – and Kataneno in particular – offers excellent opportunities for truly outstanding kudu, oryx, hartebeest, and warthog. These areas are well managed, and game populations are well maintained with no over-harvesting, and with periodic culling as required to maintain healthy huntable populations without damaging the natural environment.
The KATANENO donated hunt – details:
This safari should be booked between June and November, since for some of the culled species, the animals still have “dependents” earlier in the year.
The donated trip generously covers arrival day, 5 hunting days, and the departure day. Airport transfers are included at no added cost. You will be welcomed at the Windhoek international airport, and transferred to KATANENO. You will be returned to the Windhoek airport at the end of your safari.
You (hunter and non-hunter) will have full board with laundry service, WiFi, beverages (wine, beer) in moderation.

A shopping/sightseeing/restaurant excursion to Windhoek can be scheduled to coincide with arrival or departure, or can be substituted for one hunting day.
All hunting permits and taxes for FIVE cull animals (male or female) selected by your hunting guide from among Warthog, Hartebeest, Gemsbuck/oryx, and eland cow included. (Note: eland cows frequently have unusually long or interesting horns, and old bull oryx have magnificent mass in beautiful horns shortened by fighting.) Subject to time available, unlimited jackals (or baboons) may be taken.

If a cull animal is wounded and lost (we make every effort to follow up any wounded animal), there is a charge of US$350, to compensate for the lost animal and the lost venison.

If a hunter wishes to take a trophy/tusks/tanned hide of a culled animal a charge of US$290 (or otherwise by mutual arrangement) will be valid, to cover costs of processing, transfer to taxidermist and subsequently to the shipper. KATANENO will handle this if required.

OPTIONAL:
The donation arrangements can be expanded or extended, based on mutual agreement between the bidder/winner of the auction and KATANENO JAGD (Heiko Binding). Here is one option:
Book a 3-day extension to hunt two trophy animals from the following list… (this would incur an added charge of US$1000 for the extension, plus trophy fees for two of the following animals to be hunted):
- Trophy Kudu bull (US$ 1600)
- Blue Wildebeest bull (US$980)
- Trophy warthog (US$490)
- Gold Medal Oryx (US$490)

Excluded: International airfare, accommodations before or after the hunt, gratuities for guides, taxidermy and shipping of trophies, rental of firearm and use of ammo if you do not bring your own (US$40/day plus ammunition at US$2.50/shot).
