This Winchester was manufactured sometime between 1938 and 1940. This earlier version of the 72, is a catalog number 7201 with the Winchester 80A rear peep sight and cartridges - "SHORT / LONG / LONG RIFLE" spelled out on the barrel instead of being abbreviated. Features a 25" blued barrel with standard early version stampings and proof marks. Hooded front blade sight with the upgraded rear 80A peep sight. Winchester's first tube fed bolt action rifle holds up to 20 rounds of short, 16 rounds long and 15 rounds of long rifle. American black walnut sporter style stock with pistol grip and single screw take-down in the bottom of the forearm. Fitted with a Winchester logo black checkered synthetic butt plate. CONDITION
Retains 90%+ with only light wear on the muzzle and few handling spots on the barrel. Stock shows a few very minor dings. Overall in great condition for its age. Box shows typical wear from age and storage.
