This is the rarest of the rare for a serious Pre-64 Model 70 collector. This rifle is a one of a kind documented factory test rifle for the 358 Winchester caliber marketed by Winchester in 1955 - 1956 in the Model 88 and 70 rifles. Rifle has 27-1/2" long and 1-1/4" diameter barrel with no sights and taper. Barrel is machine finished and stamped "A Action/.358/128". Barrel is fitted on standard Model 70 blued action with rear bridge marked "Bolt Action A/No. 154". Bolt of action is stripped and marked "No 154 Only". Action has standard solid matted finish bolt handle with three position safety and standard blued steel detachable floorplate. Walnut hand checkered low comb pistol grip stock with Winchester blued checkered steel butt plate. Rifle is pictured in the "Rifleman's Rifle" on page 305, photographs 9-41 and is listed as belonging to author Roger C. Rule. CALIBER: 358 WIN. S/N: 154. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic.
CONDITION
Overall good with some light discoloration marks on barrel. Bore is excellent with excellent mechanics. A must for the serious 70 collector!
