Here is the conservationist opportunity of a lifetime! You will be able to assist Nevada
Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Bear Biologist Carl Lackey with either: 1) Spending a couple
of days camping with biologists in June, 2014 and capturing wildland bears, or 2) Assisting
with winter denning work in late February / early March 2015. Denning work involves
tranquilizing and inspecting the bear as part of a long-term Nevada black bear research project.
The actual field trip will depend upon NDOW bear research priorities and will be chosen by
Carl Lackey. This experience is great for two or three people. This item is not for the faint of
heart and requires you to be in good physical shape to hike to capture or denning sites.
Children over 10 years of age may be included as well depending upon the capture site or the
denning site. All participants must complete a volunteer sign-up through NDOW
www.ndow.org.
