SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm S#255832. Bbl. 3 3/8". Model 1914 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser and subsequently retained under the Treaty of Versailles after the conclusion of WWI. Left side of the slide is marked with the S#, followed by "1920" above Mauser's mfg. information. Right side of the slide is marked "Mauser-7,65". Top of the slide (behind the rear sight) and the right side of the bbl. lug are stamped with a double Crown/U commercial proof. Front grip strap is unit-marked "L.Sch.76.", indicating an issue to the Schleswig-Holstein police. Major metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with the trigger exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece crosshatched wrap around the wood grip. MAGS: 1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked with a mostly indiscernible mfg. mark above "1917", next to an "R.A.II" stamp in black ink on the interior of the closure flap, with a pebble grain leather down strap. CONDITION: very good overall, with metal components retaining the majority of their factory blue finishes, exhibiting some scattered spots of light to mild edge wear, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage, as well as some light chipping along the edges, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting age-related cracking and crazing overall. (24-1090/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
