POST BAN NORINCO NHM91 SPORTER RIFLE.

Cal. 7.62x39. S# 9405587. Bbl. 21". The NHM 91 was an early politically correct RPK variant that became known in the early 1990's. The first Bush Administration over saw changes to the import laws which restricted guns coming in to the United Sates to meet a "sporting" criteria. This would eventually be adopted to pertain to domestic Mfg. in 1994 & better known as the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban before sun setting 10 years later. Specific physical characteristics had to be addressed & modified prior to import & one of the earliest configurations to meet these requirements was the NHM 91. Identical in function to the original RPK but altered in aesthetics, imports continued. These changes included no threaded muzzle which was often addressed by blind pinning a thread protector over the muzzle & no pistol grip which brought us the earliest generations of thumb hole stocks. Bayonet lugs were also forbidden so the ears were typically clipped or the entire lug was milled off. This specific example was Mfg. in China by Norinco & imported through SSI in ONT, CA. It is in its original post-ban dress, w/ welded thread protector on barrel, Protected post front sight. Rear tangent sight marked to 800m. Hardwood thumbhole shoulder stock in a matching orange stain to handguards. Blued finish on exposed metal surfaces. Left side receiver marked; "CAL. NHM91 / 7.62x39MM / MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO". MAGS: 2 steel 30rd. & 1 10rd. CONDITION: original blued finish still covers completely w/ very few signs of prior use. Some thinning on receiver beneath safety selector and in areas typically associated w/ storage & light use. Wood furniture bares only a few tiny impressions. Thin rubber recoil pad. Front sight pin painted w/ high visability orange paint. Magazines have a faint custom camo pattern. Bore is shiny w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (22-5177/JZ). MODERN. $800-1,200.
