This plain, unengraved powder horn measures approx. 11” in length. It has a turned spout with a carved wooden plug. The butt has a dome-shaped plug and is secured with iron nails. The horn is undecorated and does come with a modern rawhide strap for display. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a letter stating that the horn was used by William Price, who was the quartermaster on the Regimental Staff of the 1st Virginia Regiment during the Revolutionary War. According to the letter, he served from August 1775 to July 1779, and was wounded at the Battle of Stony Point. CONDITION: horn shows light wear overall. (02-23119/BF). $75-125.
