RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 36509. Bbl. 23 1/2". Model 52 Sporting bolt action rifle, mfg. by Winchester in 1936. Left side of the bbl. is marked "MODEL 52", followed by the Winchester trademark logo and "22 LONG R", with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Left side of receiver is marked with the S#, with the right side exhibiting Winchester's patent information and the Winchester trademark logo. Trigger guard is marked "SPORTING". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body, which is jeweled. One-piece checkered wood pistol grip buttstock, with cheek piece, flat checkered steel buttplate, and black tipped forend. Ramped, hooded, and brass-tipped blade front sight, with Lyman adj. aperture rear sight. MAGS: one 5-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory finish, exhibiting a few areas of mild wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, a few superficial handling marks, as well as a couple spots of light surface level pitting overall. Bolt knob retains a mostly gray patina. Trigger guard exhibits scattered spots of finish loss, likely as the result of cleaned surface oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Wood stock shows some scattered superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-5917/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
