28 bore (.55 caliber), 9" octagonal Damascus barrels, NSN. Bright finish, walnut half-stocks with checkered grip. Case hardened locks with blued triggerguards. German silver forend caps an, thumb pieces, and pin escutcheons. Adjustable triggers with bead front sight and rear sight blocks. Marked on top of barrels in script "Theophilus Richards & Co London". Theophilus Richards & Company was a family business involving Theophilus Richards Sr. and his sons Theophilus Jr. and William. The firm made both guns and fittings, and enjoyed a lucrative contract with the British Army. Theophilus would also operate a mercantile firm known as "Theophilus Riachards & Co.". **Very good condition overall. Barrels show a light gunmetal coloration with some scattered oxidation and good patterning remaining on Damascus. Some visible case hardening on locks. Stocks show some minor handling blemishes. Actions function normally. Bores are bright with some old oil. A nice pair indeed.** $2,000-$3,000
