The 82nd Regiment of foot. (They did not fight at Waterloo) The cylindrical body and false front retaining much original nap, original unbound front peak, correct pattern cord with single tassel in gold toned wire, held in place with 3 hooks. Tarred visor. The silk cockade is deteriorating, in it's center is the brass button of the 82nd Regiment of foot, (The Prince of Wales Own) marked "82" and "Ich Dien", "I Serve" in German, with the Prince of Wales symbol of 3 ostrich feathers in a Royal Coronet.. Original paper lining is gone and the black leather sweat band is all there, but scuffed and torn in places, the frontal plate in copper gilt of standard crowned rococo pattern and bearing the large "GR" cipher only. (George III) The feather plume is a replacement, wire cord & tassel have some slight damage, gilt rubbed on plate, overall very good condition. From the Joe Musso collection.
