Helmet body made of black wool body, having a Lemon yellow plume with patriotic shield eagle with number & #34;7& #34; for 7th Cavalry. Side buttons with crossed sabers, pattern 1872 hardware atop of a lobster tail form helmet decorated with pattern 1872 brass hardware and braided gold cords. In the original tin can carrying case with hand painted name Major Marcus Reno. The paint is a re-paint. A very rare helmet and seldom comes up for sale.
Overall helmet and lining in very good condition.
