Plains rifle constructed from early “Kentucky” parts and barrel using mid-19th century lock and stock. Engraved and pierced Lancaster style patch box with “Daisy” finial. Traces of fancy script signature onthe breech end of the barrel which was shortened with rib added. Now 45” overall with 30 ½” barrel in approximately .50 caliber with rifling intact. The condition is fair to poor with some repairs to the woodand coming out of the stock. This was in our opinion a late 18th to early 19th century golden age Kentucky that went west was broken and well used. A gunsmith on the frontier probably salvaged the good barrel and prettypatch box, handcrafting a crude stock and associating a lock to make a modern mid-19th century percussion rifle. A classic with character which would make a great hanger. (Antique) Est.: $500-$1000
