Post-War Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector Third Model Transitional Double Action Revolver, in Target Configuration, #S71903, .44 S&W Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, blue finish, checkered diamond center walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, replacement ramped blade front sight, square-notched fully adjustable rear sight, color case hardened trigger and replacement wide spur hammer. Trigger with an added shoe. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (13391). Barrel, cylinder, extractor, and right grip are numbered to the gun. There is a factory rework star on the butt and left side of the grip frame is dated "S 10.50". It is unknown if the front sight was changed by the factory at this time. Included is a factory letter that states the revolver was probably mfg'd in Sept. of 1946, but they were unable to trace any history of this firearm as there is no disposition in Smith & Wesson's records. Condition is near excellent as factory refinished, retaining approx. 95% blue. Muzzle wear and cylinder turn line account for most of the finish loss. Finish on the frame has toned to a mild plum color. Factory lettering is clear. There are two impressions on the left grip, above the S&W medallion. Otherwise, both show only typical light wear with crisp checkering. Action cycles smoothly and locks up securely. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $2,000-$3,000. (C&R/PPT)
