This rifle was manufactured in 1961 and has been fitted with a leather sling and a Redfield 4-12x scope on Pachmayr "low swing" mounts. The included documentation indicates this rifle was purchased in 1962 by Los Angeles Police Officer Lieut. Max Hurlbut and was used as part of a "'Brush-Fire/Sniper' unit during the Watts Riot of August 1965. A few of us with military and hunting experience are actively picking-off roof-top shooters (trying to kill policemen apprehending rioters in the streets below). . .I hunted with this rifle in East Africa & Alaska, taking many antelope and deer." The Watts Riot incidents are described in his book "Vagabond Policeman" on pages 113-114.
