Pre-War Winchester Model 61 Pump Action Rifle, #19980, .22 S-L-LR cal., 24'' round barrel, pistol-grip walnut stock with 11-groove small forend, checkered steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight, with a ''U''-notched elevator rear sight. Top of barrel and receiver are both Winchester proofed. Barrel is marked on right side ''MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN.'' - ''U.S.A. PAT. NO. 1994564.''; left side reads ''WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL'' - ''MODEL 61'' - ''WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-'' - ''.22 S.L. OR L.R.'' Rifle rates as excellent overall with approx. 97% original blue. Magazine tube shows normal light thinning from cycling the action. Barrel with a few scattered small nicks and thin scratches at about the mid-point; top edge of receiver also with a few thin scratches. Factory lettering is clear and well defined. Left side of barrel behind the rear sight and bottom near the muzzle with a few small spots of very fine pitting; front sight shows moderate wear. Wood shows intermittent shallow handling marks and retains nearly all of the original finish; top edge of the buttstock approx. 1.5'' back from the buttplate with a slightly larger surface dent.
