Broad flat bodied serpentine cock has some filed in relief scroll. Lock and cock are engraved with near full coverage well cut scroll surrounding a hunting scene on plate with horse and rider in front of cock chasing after a hare and hound which are on rebated area behind cock. "IOHANN WAASS" is under pan and "In Wien" is behind cock. Internal inspection reveals nicely filed bridled tumbler and file decoration on main spring. Trigger has curled finial to blade. Fancy European walnut stock is mounted with gilded brass furniture which is relief cast and well engraved with scrolls. Large buttplate engraved "No. 60" at toe has large 5 1/2" top tang. Vacant crest plate at top of grip is decorated with putti and a crown. Very fancy multi pierced side plate is decorated with scrolls having sea monster heads as well as more putti. Stock is relief carved with acanthus scrolls around barrel tang and with tendrils on both sides of stock. Scroll and mouldings outline buttplate tang, lock and sideplate. Old replacement wood ramrod mounts through gold plated pipe on barrel with matching pipe on stock and thimble. CONDITION: good, showing considerable cleaning of barrel which is silver and brown showing considerable overall pitting. Lock is also cleaned and lightly pitted, engraving remains clear.
