RARE Case V-42 Stiletto Dagger WWII US Issued Knife with Original Sheath
The V-42 was manufactured in 1942 by Case. Designed for First Special Service Force officers who desired a close-quarters combat knife. Features a very thin double edged blade, approximately 5-3/4" in length, overall the blade is 7-1/4". The thumb groove at the base of the blade promotes a flat ribbed grip for the thumb over the crossguard. Hard leather ribbed handle with steel "skull-cracker" pommel. 12-1/2" overall length. Case records indicate only 1750 of these knives were shipped to the FSSF. Includes period correct leather belt loop sheath. On the back of the belt loop, hand-written is "R.R. Young / company number / T Engr Co".
CONDITION
Retains 80%+ original finish with light oxidation in the center of the blade. Handle shows wear, but overall in great condition for 80 years. Sheath shows age and wear.
