RARE EARLY GERMAN WWII WALTHER  AC/40  CODE P.38
SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 8650b. Bbl 4 7/8". Standard configuration P.38 manufactured by Walther in 1940. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by Walther's manufacturer code "ac" above the year of manufacture "40" and the serial number, with the right side marked with a Walther Eagle/359 waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Left side of frame and underside of barrel exhibit Walther's "ac" code. Metal components exhibit a proper early high polish blue finish, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece grooved pressed resin grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. Magazine is a Post-War P1 magazine. MAGS: 2 8 rnd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: West German pattern Post-War black leather holster stamped "F&B" on the rear and containing 1 additional P1 pattern magazine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear and thinning that shows through to gray patina, with scattered areas of dark pitting and oxidation that are primarily found on the barrel and slide. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some mild superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise are very good overall. Holster exhibits moderate wear overall, but remains sturdy and serviceable. (23-4834/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
