RARE JAPANESE WWII TYPE 2 TAKE DOWN BOLT ACTION

PARATROOPER RIFLE. Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 16054. Bbl. 25 1/2". Serial numbers match on receiver, bolt assembly & bayonet lug. These rifles were mfg. for Airborne troops & have a very successful takedown system. Interestingly, the 2 parts of the takedown mechanism & the rear of the bbl. have a separate matching S# (665). The number on the receiver extension is struck more deeply than the 1 on the bbl. extension. Imperial chrysanthemum has been removed from the top of receiver extension leaving Type 2 markings intact. Left receiver rail has Nagoya Arsenal markings. Bolt has oval knob & notched checkered safety knob. Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1,500m w/ AA wings. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. 21 1/4" Cleaning rod is present. 3 Screw upper band. Correct lower band mfg. w/out monopod mt. Hardwood stock set w/ full length handguard. Forend has grasping grooves. 2 Piece buttstock construction w/ cup type buttplate & 2 screw sling swivel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct Type 99 tan web sling w/ hook connectors. CONDITION: stock set has nice original finish w/ light wear, scattered dents & handling marks. Metal retains 75% original blue finish w/ thinning & light wear, notable spot of thin finish on left side of receiver extension. Very good shiny bore.
