The British reissued them to the Royal Navy stamped with British ownership numbers, and they became part of the on board Armory of various warships. The battleship HMS Canada, was ordered by Chile prior to the start of WWI but not delivered. With the outbreak of war, the British appropriated the battleship. After the war, HMS Canada and several destroyers were sent to Chile, and their on board rifles and bayonets were included. The Chilean Navy renamed the battleship the Almirante Latorre, and stamped the Ross rifles with a DA Navy ownership number on the receiver. The bayonets were stamped to match the rifles. These rifles are early production, with CEF stamps, Royal Navy stamps, and Chilean Navy stamps."
