RARE RUGER NEW MODEL BEARCAT CONVERTIBLE REVOLVER.
Cal. 22 LR / 22 Mag. S# 93-01687. Bbl. 4" with blade sight plus frame notched rear. Mfg. 1994 (1993-1994 only) with blued steel construction as opposed to alloy frames of Old Model Bearcats; alloy ejector rod housing. Approximately 1,000 NM Bearcat convertibles were made before Ruger ceased its production due to some perceived design flaw, causing them to recall all examples; when recalled, they retained the 22-mag. cylinder and issued a credit voucher. Resources estimate only 300 originals are currently in existence, making this one of the scarcest Ruger handguns. Each unfluted cylinder has the last 3 digits of the serial number electro-engraved on their faces and is identically roll-marked along with the caliber designation. Transfer bar safety system is incorporated. Smooth rosewood grips with small silver eagle medallions plus a blued grip screw in silver bushings. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a good (shop-worn) box that appears to be original, but a cardboard shipping sleeve that was stamped with the firearm's information is missing. Original matching-numbered auxiliary 22-mag. cylinder. Regular current production New Model Bearcat Manual (2004) without convertible markings. CONDITION: very good overall, with faint marks to include cylinder turn lines. There appears to be a slight extra polish on the factory-quality refinish. Very faint marks on the left grip (right is near excellent). Near-excellent bore and minimal firing residue in the frame. (24-6583/NW). MODERN. $800-1,200.
