Two 60 round drum magazines that are a very rare prototype and were part of the early Special Purpose Individual Weapon (SPIW) program started by the AAI Corporation in the early 1960s to compete with the M16 in trials. The SPIW program came up with the prototype XM19 Flechette Rifle. Very few rifles were made and very few of their 50 round drum magazines. These magazines are extraordinarily rare. They are both in very good condition - 1)Tapered cylindrical drum magazine for the XM645 Flechette cartridge. Type Designator/Model: Unknown. Cal./Size: 4 ¼-inch major diameter and 2 ¾-inches deep. Color: anodized Green. Manufacturer: Aircraft Armament Industries, USA. Item 2) This magazine has a "cutaway" opening to show how the rounds are seated inside the drum. It is tapered cylindrical drum magazine for the XM645 Flechette cartridge.
