RARE STUNNING 1884 Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter .44-40 Revolver Engraved Mother of Pearl Grips
Manufactured in 1884, per Colt Archive letter, and shipped to Hibbard, Bartlett and Spencer in Chicago, Illinois. Hummel was an early and well known Texas gun dealer with a reputation for selling Colt Single Action Army, Army & Navy Models, and Dragoons to many famous personalities. Professional upgrades possibly done by Charles Hummel & Son. Originally included a 7-1/2" barrel with blued finish and hard rubber grips, it currently features a 3-3/4" barrel, upgraded finish, with rear integrated notch and blade front sight. Professionally engraved with a near full coverage of floral scrollwork on a stippled background pattern also incorporating cross hatching, wavy line and dot, fan, star burst and arrow motifs. Top of the barrel is stamped with Colt's two-line address. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". The left side of the frame is stamped with the early three line Colt patents "PAT. SEPT. 19 1871 / JULY 2 - 72 / JAN 19 - 75". Silver finish with blued fasteners. Fitted with beautiful mother of pearl grips. An absolute show piece and must have for any Colt collector! Includes pictured factory Colt Archive letter. CALIBER: 44-40. S/N: 111211.
