LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 30 Luger. S# P25296. Bbl. 4 3/4". One of 1,600 Swiss Model 1929 Luger semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern for civilian sales. This example is stamped with the S# "P25296" on the left side of the frame ("P" prefix indicating "Privat" commercial sales), with a small inspection proof stamped on the right, and the Waffenfabrik Bern "W+F" logo marked on the rear of the frame. Interior of frame is marked with the date code "5.40" (indicating mfg. in May of 1940). Rear frame well and underside of bbl. extension are marked with a Rifle/N, indicating sub-contracted mfg. by SIG Neuhausen. Toggle is marked with the Swiss Federal cross within a shield. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece brown checkered plastic grips. Blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, sideplate, bbl., and bbl. extension. MAGS: one 8-rd. with Swiss brown plastic bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear overall, with mild wear present on the toggle "ears." Frame exhibits some light to mild surface oxidation and pitting, with the bluing appearing to have been touched up in a few places. Rear toggle link exhibits mild pitting. Near mirror bore, exhibiting mild to moderate pitting primarily around the muzzle while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show light to mild smoothing, as well as some nicks to the diamonds from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-4126/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,400.
