RUGER TRI-COLOR LIGHTWEIGHT SINGLE-SIX REVOLVER.
Cal. 22 LR. S# 203510. Bbl. 4 5/8" with serrated blade plus frame-mounted drift-adjustable rear (proper set screw retention). Mfg. 1956 (1956–1959; S# 200001–212534 for all variations of lightweights) as the earliest example of a lightweight with a blued barrel and small parts, a black alloy XR3 grip frame ("G" marked), a natural aluminum-colored cylinder frame, a brown Martin hard-coated aluminum cylinder, a flat loading gate (contoured on the next issue), a steel long throw off-set ejector housing, a serrated button at the end of the ejector rod, checkered black hard rubber grips, and a "skinny" early-style trigger; approximately 3,700 of this type. Replacement "drilled-through" base pin latch was first used in 1958. Lightweight Single-Six was way ahead of its time by Ruger and not well received by buyers due to unfounded concerns about aluminum's durability. CONDITION: very good overall, with some high edge thinning and light marks on the butt. Cylinder has minimal chipping of leads, which is common for the Martin hard coat. Sides of the hammer are lightly polished to alleviate "staining". Very good grips with minimal hand wear. Near-excellent bore, plus proper mechanical functioning. (23-6248/NW). CURIO. $750-1,000.
