BRUNN K98K BOLT ACTION RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Cal. 8x57mm. S# 9032e. Bbl. 24". K98k bolt action rifle mfg. in Czechoslovakia by Waffenwerke Brunn while under German occupation in 1943. The top of the receiver is marked with a Brunn WaA80 proof above Brunn's "dou" mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "43", 2 Russian capture "X" marks, an eagle firing proof, and the S# marked on the left, and with "Mod. 98" marked on the left receiver wall. Right side of the bbl. is F Guns import marked. Metal components exhibit a Russian reapplied blue finish overall. Laminated wood buttstock and handguard, have been sanded and re-lacquered. Hooded blade front sight, with standard tangent rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and stock. Bolt body, bolt shroud, cocking piece, trigger guard, and floorplate are matching via "9032" in electro-pencil, with the stock having been renumbered on the left side of the butt. Complete with a period brown leather sling marked "D&C" on the buckle. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: blued bayonet marked "42 cof" (Carl Eickhorn) on the left side of the ricasso, with "1866/ b" marked on the right. Bayonet is fitted with 2-piece brown grooved bakelite grips, and is complete with a scabbard and reproduction black leather frog. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their Russian arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light wear and thinning, with some areas of pitting present beneath the bluing. Dark pitted bore, retaining good to strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Sling remains malleable, exhibiting age related cracking and crazing overall. Bayonet retains much of its original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and striations from prior cleaning.
