DESCRIPTION
First edition with green cloth cover. Printed 1912. Written by Pinkerton Detective Charles A. Siringo, A Cowboy Detective continues the story from his prior work A Texas Cowboy left off. However, due to his confidentiality agreement with the Pinkerton Detective Agency, the Pinkertons successfully delayed the release of the work. It was finally released in 1912, followed by another round of legal action by the Pinkertons including the deliberate destruction of many copies. As such, this book is extremely rare. Inscribed on inside "Edward Cunningham/Nov. 1923". Includes 1927-dated photograph with an elderly Siringo alongside Charles(?) J. Smith, "House Detective at the Alexandria Hotel". **Good condition overall. Some wear to corners and edges of cover with some additional wear to edges and corners of pages. Covers remain attached.** $200-$400
