Rare Prussian era black eagle order of ST. John medal in original box with documentation. From 1916 which states (Translation from French) “I, The undersigned certify that the decoration of the black eagle has been taken by Mr. Ch. Ducher on a Sub-Officer boche (German) with his revolver at the “Cote 304” Verdun (Meuse) July 1916 CH. Ducher 153 Inf, I leme escouade, secteur 139.”. Written on postcard with old translation. Very researchable from a Collectors estate in Alaska. Most likely Battle of Verdun. Est.: $750-$1500
