*Rare Richards-Mason 1860 Colt Conversion
Rare factory produced cartridge conversion 1860 Army chambered in .44 Colt, circa 1877-1878. One of only an approximate 2,100 revolver ever produced in this manner by the factory. Special 8" barrel with a hole for the loading lever, German silver blade front sight, 'v' notched rear sight on the hammer, loading gate, ejector rod, and one-piece ivory grips. Serial numbers match on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. The barrel reads "COLTS PT. F. A MFG. & CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." & the frame is marked: "- PAT. JULY 25, 1871-/- PAT. JULY 2, 1872-". The trigger guard & front strap show traces of an old nickel finish though the revolver has been cleaned and is primarily in-the-white displaying a semi-bright appearance with scattered pin prick picking & blemished throughout. Action is crisp with three clicks, bore is very good, markings are very good, and the ivory stocks and near fine with some minor imperfections & have aged to a lovely caramel color. A handsome example of one of the rarest Colt cartridge conversions. Condition is good++. ***Antique Firearm***
