.50-70 caliber, 22.25& #34; barrel, S/N 769. Blued finish with case hardened lockplate and oiled walnut stock. Blade front sight with ladder rear sight. Barrel and receiver marked on left side with & #34;769& #34; serial number. Correct flat ring bar with breechblock marked & #34;1870/[eagle/arrow/]/US& #34;. Very faint remnants of & #34;ESA& #34; cartouche on counterpane.
*Fair condition. Barrel and breech has a dark untouched patination. Stock has marks and blemishes consistent with age and use including an old stable split from sling bar to comb with a small section of missing wood to left of tang. Bore is dark but with visible rifling. A very rare carbine with a very limited production.**
