Semi-auto rifle inscribed on left side, "CAPT Frank Hamer, Texas Ranger, Co. C. Del Rio". Showing hand engraved caliber on BBL collar instead of bolt and gold plated "C" initial on circular plaque inlaid into right side of the stock. Manufactured circa 1906 (first year production) Approx. 90% old professional re-blued finish remains with very good stocks and original butt plate. Provenance: Letter from noted old time California Historic arms collector Bill Haase, documenting his obtaining this rifle from James McGee of Kentucky who was noted nationally for owning the S&W #3 single-action documented by Bob Ford to kill Jesse James. Also a magazine article. Published in several magazines shows what appears to be this Remington with stock inlay "C". Frank Hamer was known to favor Remington semi-auto rifles which he carried one in .30 cal at the ambush of "Bonnie & Clyde" and a .25 cal was carried by his back-up man "B.M. Gault". This .35 cal bush buster is photographed with him hunting and a big buck on car's fender. It is logical that Hamer who was an avid hunter, shooter and gunfighter knew his guns and saved the .35 cal for heavy brush, which there is a lot of in Texas. A rare opportunity to obtain a Frank Hamer gun as most are in museums or advanced private collections, which most likely will not be publicly sold.
