Revolutionary War Era Horseman's Saber with stirrup grip (1775-1783), 30'' curved blade, 35'' overall, with iron guard, wire wrapped leather handle over wood, lower third of blade blued with gold details. Leather scabbard with throat is retained (missing tip). Blade thickness is slightly over a quarter inch at crossguard, with nice even wide fuller tapering to flat approx. 6'' from tip. Condition is very good with moderate carbon spotting to blade, yet with over 80% original blue and gold remaining. Grip leather has thinned and flaked with only about 30% remaining. Iron grip components have toned brown. Seldom-seen scabbard is black tanned leather with iron throat and integral stud for attachment to frog. Tip is missing. Leather has flaked and thinned to approx. 60% with some loose stitching at tip area. Est.: $750-$1,000.
