Cal. 38 Spl. S# 102501. Bbl. 5" pinned with integral 1/2 moon front sight; fame notched rear. Patent info on top of barrel plus caliber marking on left along with "U.S. SERVICE CTG'S". Yoke lock on barrel, 4 screw side plate plus 1 in front of trigger guard, detent in yoke to facilitate loading / ejecting, round butt K frame and checkered walnut grips having diamond centers and recessed brass medallions. Mfg. 1906-1909 (73,648 units) with blued finish plus case colored smooth faced trigger and hammer with finely checkered spur. Matching numbers on barrel, cylinder and extractor; grips pencil numbered to another revolver. Only frame marking is S&W logo on sideplate. Three punch dots in a row on lower edge of front strap. CONDITION: near excellent overall appearance with top quality factory style refinish. Light function wear and pin prick oxidation on hammer and trigger. Function wear on ejector rod not commensurate with overall finish. Fair to good bore with cleaned pitting throughout along with hint of wear. Beautiful grips with non factory replacement screw and left escutcheon. Fine mechanical functioning and proper timing. PPROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of George Staden S&W Member #3451.
