Cal. 38 Spl. S# 15114. Bbl. 5" pinned having company markings on top plus caliber marking on left side. Integral 1/2 moon front sight blade; U notched rear sight. Mfg. 1899-1902 (20,975 units) with round butt K frame; Civilian model as Army-Navy models had 6" barrels plus additional military markings. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, cylinder and extractor; Service style hard rubber grips numbered to another revolver. Butt has screw in place of lanyard swivel with serial number on front strap; likely intended for police use. Case colored smooth faced trigger and hammer with finely checkered spur. Often referred to as "pre 5 screw" with 4 screw side plate and no locking lug on barrel. CONDITION: fair to good original finish with noticeable freckling, patina in grip area, high edge wear plus cylinder turn line. Worn case colors. Generally good bright bore with some spots of pitting. Very good grips. Fine mechanics and timing. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of George Staden S&W Member #3451. (25-40/NW).
